Description
The project will consist of a series of monthly 2 1/2 hour printmaking workshops hosted at the Muncie Liberation Studio. My goal is to host these public workshops as a beginner friendly entry into to printmaking and linocutting. The workshops would explore art history, relief printmaking through different techniques/mediums, and allow for participants to take home multiple creations. I want to promote accessible/low barrier-to-entry art education and provide a safe space for artists/cultural workers of marginalized/oppressed identities. These workshops will be advertised around the city through multiple established channels: physical flyers, canvassing, and social media. Through an RSVP, attendees will sign up and pay for seats beforehand or at the door. Seats will be open to all members of the public. The project would begin monthly in May, and, within 6-9 months (Oct 2026-Jan 2027) of the first workshop, I will be able to reimburse the original cost.

In my work at the Muncie Liberation Studio, I have handled our organizations bourgeoning finances, acquisitions, and fundraising. I play a key role in the administration of all our projects. We host multiple programs every week and recently we've also raised hundreds of dollars for various local causes (and ourselves) through different campaigns and events. Our most recent benefit concert (March 28th) raised for over 350$ in one night to fund a DC trip for Feminists for Action, a Ball State student organization. The one before that (March 20th) raised about $500 for humanitarian relief in Gaza through an organization called Doctors Against Genocide. Through the studio, I've hosted other free cultural programming on art history, sticker making, patch making, collaging, and other 2d art that I want to share with others. The studio itself is a space well networked among young adults, creatives, and other organizations in Muncie with a large following. It sits on a bus stop in a well trafficked commercial district near Ball State's Campus. The studio will be able to provide additional volunteers for advertising, setup/clean up, other printmaking supplies and tools, and a consistent time/place for the workshops.
At my current occupation at Minnetrista as a programs and evaluation assistant, I provide direct support of the programs studio manager, as well as our in house certified Bob Ross instructor, to ensure the success and quality of our workshops. I am an essential part of their adult art programs, facilitating various workshop on 2d fused glass, screen-printing, and bookbinding. Along with my bachelors in Art history and a minor in studio Art from Ball State, I bring a deep passion for art education and a desire to bring the art of printmaking into the lives of everyday people.
